In these days of ever increasing reliance on technology and gadgets many people have taken the choice to purchase a universal solar charger. With more people purchasing web connected devices, the need for keeping these devices powered is more important than ever.
Solar power works by converting the energy provided by the sun into electricity. Solar panels are made from photo-voltaic cells, these cells were first made by Bell laboratories in the early 1950’s. Briefly, photo-voltaic cells work by using the power of light itself. Light is mainly consisted of photons which create an electric imbalance within the photo-voltaic cells upon striking the surface. This electric imbalance then causing an electric current to flow within a circuit created in the device. This current flow can then be used to either power a device directly or, more commonly in the case of a solar charger, be used to charge a battery which can then be used to provide power to another device.
A good universal solar charger will be able to attach to a variety of devices. They connect either via the use of different tips for the devices or they can alternatively physically attach to the batteries which the device may contain. A good quality charger will also be able to fully charge the device using its internal battery.
Its pretty easy to come to the main advantage of a solar charger, mainly that it does not require external power to charge a device. This is extremely handy if you are going to be spending some time away from mains power. Examples include when camping or exploring the great outdoors or when spending time in a music festival which just about has toilets let alone electric!
Solar power is also extremely environmentally friendly. Most domestic power is either generated via coal/gas powered power plants or through nuclear power. Both of these types of power generation produce harmfull byproducts which can harm the environment. Coal/gas burning power stations produce large quantities of greenhouse gases while the risk from radiation produced by nuclear power can never be totally dismissed.
In contrast, solar power is a form of renewable power. Along with wind and tidal power generation it is a clean form of power which creates no greenhouse gases and no radiation risks.
The next big advantage is cost. Once you purchase a solar charger there is no more cost involved in charging your device, unlike mains power which seems to increase in cost every six months!
The biggest disadvantage of solar chargers is that they need light to work. The efficiency of the photo-voltaic panels has increased greatly over the last decade or so, reaching the point where they do not need direct sunlight to work but will now create a satisfactory current even under overcast conditions. But it is still something you should be aware of depending where in the world you are based.
Charging your device via a solar charger can also be a lot slower than using a mains charger. This is due to the current generated by the solar panels being a lot less than what you would find at home. Universal solar chargers try to overcome this by utilising a lithium-ion battery within it. These types of battery are very good at releasing a higher charge than conventional ni-cad batteries, thus they create a higher current in their charging circuit.
This sums up the main pro’s and con’s of a universal solar charger.
The 0×800ccc0d error will often show when you try and send / receive email messages in Microsoft Office Outlook. The error generally occurs when your computer cannot connect to the mail server for whatever reason – leading it to show an error message when you try and download the messages to your PC. Although this problem is actually very common, it’s quite easy to fix if you know what’s causing it & how to fix the issue.
The error will normally show in this format:
No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.
The server could not be found. (Account:account name, POPserver:’mail’, Error Number: 0×800ccc0d)
The causes of this error are numerous, and are basically where your PC will be unable to connect to the various mail services it requires to download / send the emails it needs. Each time you check your “email” in Outlook, it basically downloads your messages from a selection of email servers. These servers store your messages and allow you to receive your mail anywhere you have an Internet connection. The problem that you’re seeing can be caused by the likes of incorrect login details, damaged registry settings or a faulty Internet connection – and basically prevent your PC from connecting to the servers it requires to run.
The first step to fixing the 0×800ccc0d error is to use ensure that your Internet connection is working correctly and your login details are correct. All email servers require you to log in with the correct details before they can allow you to download your emails – so by clicking onto Outlook’s “Options” menu, and then to “Email Accounts”, you should ensure that your login details are typed in correctly to the program. On top of that, you should ensure your Internet connection is working by loading up a random website, as well as temporarily disabling any firewalls you may have on your system.
It’s also recommended that you use a “registry cleaner” to fix any of the damaged or corrupted settings which may lead the 0×800ccc0d error to show. Registry cleaners scan through the registry of Windows – which is a central database that stores all the files & settings your PC needs to run. These software tools are very popular because of the way they are able to fix a huge number of problems on your system – allowing your computer to run as smoothly and reliably as possible. It’s often the case that the registry database of your PC will either become damaged or corrupted, leading your software to behave in very strange ways. Fixing these issues with a registry cleaner should ensure the 0×800ccc0d error will not show again.
An important DLL file, steam_API.dll is a vital component of the “Steam” application which mainly deals with game software and its enhancements. However, despite its functions being essential, it has been reported to cause numerous problems and errors inside your computer. The error is usually encountered when users attempt to load up games and some of the examples of alerts that pop up are as follows:
“Steam_API.dll file is missing.”
“The procedure entry point steamuserstats could not be located in the dynamic link library steam_API.dll.”
What Causes Steam_API.dll Errors?
Several reasons may cause these errors to occur, and it is necessary that you identify the specific cause to perform the appropriate action to repair this. The possible causes would include faulty components of the steam_API.dll file, problems with the software which utilizes the file, or registry issues. It may also be the case that other programs are triggering the errors to appear.
How To Fix Steam_API.dll Errors
The first step to resolve this issue is to check if other programs are causing the error. This is easily done as you will notice the error message alerts when running a particular program. Once you identify the “culprit” application, you have to remove it from your system and then re-install afterwards. To perform this task, you should follow these steps:
Click onto “Start” and then locate “Control Panel”.
After that, select “Add / Remove Programs” and then find the program to be removed.
You then have to click on it, and after that press “Uninstall” or “Remove”.
This will delete the program from your PC. If you wish to re-install it, you can do so by using an installer CD/DVD or downloading a fresh copy from the internet.
To address registry setbacks, you have to clean the registry of your PC. The “registry” is a central hub of information and settings that is accessed by Windows to run and load your programs. Oftentimes, the registry gets damaged, causing many problems, including these errors. To fix this and prevent future problems, download and run a registry cleaner tool to make your computer error-free and function more efficiently.
There are many different ways that you can get lessons that will help you teach yourself guitar. There are guitar magazines, dvd’s, cd’s, books, tablature, online membership sites, teachers and probably a dozen other methods that I haven’t even thought of. One of the oldest and most popular ways is the use of guitar magazines. You can find many of these magazines at your local bookstore, grocery store or corner/convenience store. Most of them will contain lessons, gear reviews, album reviews, interviews with guitar players and some even throw in a cd or dvd that have video lessons and gear demonstrations. If you really like a particular guitar magazine, subscriptions are available at discounted yearly or more rates.
So which one is the best? Well that depends on a few things:
1. Where you are in your guitar playing? Beginner, intermediate or advanced?
2. What style of music are you into? Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Blues, Country etc.?
3. What do you want more of in your guitar magazine? Tabs, lessons, gear reviews?
Before you go running off to your local magazine stand to look for a magazine that’s right for you, check out the following list that I have put together for you of 3 of the best guitar magazines that are available today. Please keep in mind that these are my choices of the top 3 and depending on your taste, you may think another publication is better. But at least this list will give you a head start and you don’t have to thumb through every magazine on the rack.
Guitar World is one of the most popular monthly magazines on the market and contains guitar and bass tablature of around five songs per issue. The lessons are directed at beginner and intermediate players and most of the lessons, tabs and interviews are in the Hard Rock and Heavy Metal genres. The subscriptions are available at a pretty hefty discount and you can also upgrade your subscription and get a bonus cd-rom with each magazine. These cd-roms will play video lessons, gear demonstrations and music from some amazing guitarists. For more information check out http://www.guitarworld.com.
Total guitar is a monthly magazine from the U.K. and is the most popular guitar magazine in Europe. This is in my opinion the best magazine for beginner guitarists. Don’t get me wrong, there are lots of lessons for guitar players of all abilities but Total Guitar focuses mostly on the novice. The mag has a nice variety of tab for Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Blues, Punk, Country and Folk, so there is something for everyone. Another great thing about Total Guitar is that unlike most guitar magazines, they don’t focus on articles and expensive gear but focus on teaching beginner guitar players how to play properly.
Each magazine also comes with a free cd that contains audio examples of the lessons and best of all, backing tracks for all the tabs. These backing tracks are great because they have the guitar parts missing so you can jam along with the song just like you were playing with the band.
The only downfall with this publication is that if you live outside of the U.K., expect to pay a lot for a subscription. Check out http://www.totalguitar.co.uk/ for more information.
Made by the same company that makes Total Guitar, Guitar Techniques is also a top-notch magazine. Guitar Techniques also has a massive amount of lessons that are spread out along many genres including Rock, Heavy Metal, Blues, Jazz and County. This magazine specializes in guitar instruction and it shows. You also get a cd with the backing tracks for the tabs and lesson examples.
You’ll get everything from beginner tips to some more advanced soloing lessons. They also get right into the different styles or techniques of your favorite guitarists. They explain exactly what scales and techniques they use and how the artist gets their sound. They then give you examples tabbed out so you can learn exactly how to play it. For more information go to http://www.guitar-techniques.com/.
So there you have my list of the Top 3 Guitar Magazines that will help you teach yourself guitar. Hopefully it has made your choice a little easier. Now go get it and start shredding!
Podcasting is helping revolutionize the world of entertainment by empowering millions of people with the ability to create and distribute their own comedy podcast online. Popular stand up comedians like Adam Carolla, Greg Fitzsimmons and Jim Jefferies have already started podcasting as a way of expanding their reach as a performer and helping to spread their unique brand of comedy. Thru podcasting comedians who may have been stuck in a small market and never discovered now have access to a global audience. Podcasts have a variety of formats and genre, but the comedy podcast seems to be one of the more popular. Creating a comedy podcast can be broken down into three broad steps, planning your podcast, recording your podcast and distributing your podcast.
When it comes to planning your comedy podcast, the format is one of the most important decisions and should be the first one you make when creating your comedy radio program. Some comedians choose to pick a specific theme for their podcast, like Doug Benson and his I Love Movies podcast. Other comedians like Adam Carolla choose to go with a format similar to that of a traditional morning show, complete with a news girl, sound effects and interview segments. The minimalist approach has worked for some stand up comedians like Bill Burr and his Monday Morning Podcast, which features just the comedian speaking into a microphone. Successful comedy podcasts often have recurring bits, which help create a structure for the program and aids in building listener loyalty. If you aren’t a seasoned comedian, or just beginning in broadcasting, I would recommend picking a genre that you have some experience on or at least a lot of strong opinions. Starting a comedy podcast that doesn’t focus on one specific theme, may be too overwhelming for someone just starting out.
Recording your comedy podcast can be done through a number of ways but the easiest way involves setting up some microphones and having them plugged into a recording device or a computer. You’ll want a room that is not only quiet, but will also provide solid acoustics for your comedy radio recording. You will need to make sure that the microphones are spaced out properly to avoid feedback and that the microphones are held in a stand to make it easier to talk. The microphones can be mixed using a simple mixer, and that feed can be sent into the computer which will be recorded using a software program. Having someone monitor the podcast as it’s been recording, is also important. You wouldn’t want to waste an entire hour performing a comedy radio show, only to realize that the audio is unusable. Garage Band, is a popular program that many people use to record their podcasts. After you’ve finished recording, you can edit it down if you’d like with an audio program, I recommend the program GoldWave.
Now that you’ve planned and recorded your comedy podcast, the next step is getting it distributed. First your comedy radio show must be uploaded to a central location for download, whether it is your personal website or a free file server there are plenty of options when it comes to housing your podcast. Publicizing your comedy podcast there are a multitude of options, Facebook, Twitter and iTunes are great ways to get people to check out your podcast. There are even podcasts out there that review other podcasts, you can submit your show to them for review and a good way to gain more exposure. Posting your comedy podcast on iTunes requires a separate tutorial that can be found at Apple.com. Additionally a great way to get your comedy radio program noticed is to be a guest on other people’s podcast, or to post on forums to generate listeners to your podcast.
Now that you’ve planned, recorded and distributed your comedy podcast you can repeat the same formula for the next episode. Or if the formula needs tweaking make adjustments, but the keep to a successful comedy podcast is consistency. People get accustomed to enjoying a show and you want to keep them coming back and continuing to listen. As far as monetizing the podcast, seek out advertisers or affiliate programs as a way to generate revenue. Many comedy podcasts are not yet profitable, however with the seismic shift to online advertising those days could be few and far between, so strike while the iron is hot and start your own comedy podcast.
Programs which load up slowly on your PC are not only annoying, but can be extremely detrimental to your work & other computer-related activities. Although this problem is extremely common, the fact is that most people just don’t have any idea about how to resolve the issue on your system. If you find that your programs are loading slowly, you need to be able to repair the issues that are causing the long load time – which can be done quickly and easily following the steps outlined in this tutorial.
Windows Media Player is one of the most common Windows programs that take a long time to load up. The issue, like with most Windows software, is all to do with how your computer uses the software, as well as how many system resources it requires to run. The way to make Windows Media Player load up faster is just the same as speeding up any other program on your PC, and here’s how….
The way to make this software load up quicker is to first ensure that the software is correctly installed on your PC, and then that there are not further issues leading the problem to show. If you want to be able to boost the load speed of a particular type of software, it’s important that you are able to get it running as smoothly as possible on your system, which is done by re-installing the program and then fixing any Windows errors that could be leading it to run slower.
The first step to making WMP (Windows Media Player) load up faster is to re-install it. The likelihood is that somehow, your system has either damaged or corrupted the files & settings the player needs to run, and therefore leads your computer to continually run much slower when it tries to load it up. The easiest and most effective way to resolve this problem is to click onto Start > Control Panel > Add / Remove programs and remove Windows Media Player from your PC. Then download the latest version from Microsoft and install it again.
The second step to making Windows Media Player load up faster is to then use an anti-virus scanner and a registry cleaner tool to fix the various errors that may be causing the player to load up slowly on your system. Antivirus tools will remove any viruses which may have infected your system and causing Windows Media Player to load up slowly, and registry tools will basically fix any of the errors & issues which may be inside the registry database. The registry database is a central storage facility which keeps all the files, settings and options for your system inside. Because of this database’s importance, many Windows systems actually end up saving many parts of it in the wrong way – leading your system to run much slower and with a lot of errors. To ensure this problem is not leading your PC to slow down, you need to be able to use a registry cleaner program to fix the various errors your computer has.
When you are just starting as a budding DJ newbie and are getting the necessary music and equipment put together, you may come across the idea that you need to place your DJ speakers on stands. So you are wondering if DIY speakers stands are a good idea or whether you should buy DJ speaker stands.
To make this decision whether to build audio stands easier on you, we’ll go over some of the basic requirements for a useful DJ audio stand. The requirements are – the audio stand should help the speaker project the sound throughout the venue space, the audio stand should prevent the sound distortion and loss, and a DJ loudspeaker stand should be sturdy yet portable. In addition, if you can get audio stands cheap and fulfilling all of the criteria, why DIY?
These are the requirements for building quality audio stands that will be functional and that you can be proud of:
The speaker stands should help the speaker project and carry the sound
This is the first and the most important requirement. The sound projection depends on two factors: Sound absorption, and clear sound path. To enable a clear path for the sound, the speaker audio stands must help project the sound over and above the audience. At the same time, the sound should not be directed into the audience, to reduce sound absorption.
Bottom line, the DJ stands need to be adjustable height and their best height is at the ear level or slightly higher. Depending on the venue and whether the audience is sitting, standing, or both, you need to make your stands adjustable anywhere between 4′ and 6′ in height.
The audio stand should prevent the sound distortion and loss
The best way to prevent sound distortion is to have a strong and narrow tie-in of your stand into the speaker. Most DJ speakers have standard 1 3/8″ sockets, and some have 1 1/2″ sockets. Be sure to tighten the screw to prevent any rattling or other sound distortions. The sound loss is minimized by using the smallest possible connection between the speaker and the speaker sound. So if your speaker weight allows it, go with the smallest possible standard socket size.
The DJ audio stand should be sturdy and portable
This is where the material used comes to play a big role in building DJ audio stands or PA speaker stands. If you thought you can get away with a wood speaker stands construction, think again. With wood, you will never be able to achieve the low weight-high impact resistance that an aluminum or steel speaker stand offers. But with either an aluminum or stainless steel construction you can create a sturdy yet lightweight stand that is easily transported in a car or van.
Bottom line, are you a handy man enough to make your own stands? Can you produce DIY DJ stands with all the above characteristics, sound projection, reduced sound distortion and loss, and sturdiness and portability? If so, then go ahead and build your own DJ stands. If not, buy new DJ speakers stands instead.
Does your computer lag or does it seem to have any unusual behavior, if it does chances are your computer is infected with a virus. To help you with solutions to computer viruses I have answered some questions people ask me about getting rid of viruses.
1.)Whats is a computer virus?
Computer viruses are small software programs that are designed to spread from one computer to another and to interfere with computer operation. A virus might corrupt or delete data on your computer, use your e-mail program to spread itself to other computers, or even erase everything on your hard disk. Viruses are most easily spread by attachments in e-mail messages or instant messaging messages. Viruses can be disguised as attachments of funny images, greeting cards, or audio and video files, this is why most viruses come from downloading movies, music, illegal programs and most of all from pornographic material.
2.)What are other names for a virus?
You may have heard of malware, spy ware, Trojans, trackers, hijackers, ad ware, etc… these are just subsections of viruses.
3.)Symptoms of a virus?
After you open and run an infected program or attachment on your computer, you might not realize that you have introduced a virus until you notice something is not quite right.
Here are a few primary indicators that your computer might be infected:
Your computer runs more slowly than normal,
Your computer stops responding or locks up often,
Your computer crashes and restarts every few minutes,
Your computer restarts on its own and then fails to run normally,
Applications on your computer do not work correctly,
Disks or disk drives are inaccessible,
You can not print correctly,
You see unusual error messages,
You see distorted menus and dialog boxes
You are BOMBARDED with pop ups,
4.)What are some solutions to computer viruses?
The perfect solutions to computer viruses are purchasing a quality virus program, and staying off unwanted sites. Then your computer and your privacy is secured.
5.) What is the best virus protection for me?
Even if you do not have a virus, or already have one, purchasing a quality virus program is the best solution to computer viruses. I have mentioned the best solutions/products for your computer virus problems below.
6.)How easy is it to use the software?
You can have the software downloaded and running within ten minutes. It’s that easy! You can even set it to run regularly – you do not even have to know it’s there. It will just run regularly to clear out new viruses that might have somehow crept in.
7.) Why should I pick any of these virus protection programs?
Well that is a good question. What is special about these programs is that they attack viruses before the virus attacks your computer. Compared to Norton Anti virus, which lets the virus attacks the computer and then kill the virus and go after its sources. The negative about this is, if u let the virus install it self, its almost impossible to kill its roots. Also the programs I have listed below have real time protection. Real time protection is denying the virus from entering your computer, therefore you can surf any website you want.
8.) Okay, but still, why should I pick these programs? (convince me more)
Alright, well Big brand name programs such as Norton or Mcafee, come out with new editions each year, which means that you need to buy the latest version in order to keep up with the virus world. In comparison the programs i mention, you do not need to but the new version every year, the programs virus definitions are auto updated. Also these programs are a lot more affordable than brand name programs. THE PROGRAMS GET THE JOB DONE!!
The 13008 error with iTunes is a problem that’s caused by the way in which your computer will not be able to operate the iTunes application correctly; mainly due to the fact that your system will not have the correct settings to help it run. We’ve found the biggest cause of this error is actually that the library files inside your PC will not be able to operate correctly, leading Windows to run much slower and with a lot of errors as it will prevent your system from being able to load up the important files that are required to help the program to run. In order to fix the 13008 error, you need to make sure that iTunes is working properly, as well as Windows is able to read the settings that it requires to run this application.
The message you’ll likely see with the 13008 error will be:
The iTunes Application Could Not be Opened. Unknown Error 13008
How To Fix Error 13008
The error you have is basically going to be caused by Windows being unable to correctly process the important settings that the iTunes application requires to run (namely the files & settings that are inside your music library). In order to fix this, we’ve found the best way to resolve the error is to ensure that iTunes is working, as well as then cleaning out the registry of your PC.
Step 1 – Re-Install iTunes
Click “Control Panel”
Click “Add / Remove Programs”
Uninstall it from your PC
Restart your system
Re-Install the latest iTunes from Apple.com
Step 2 – Make Sure You Have The Correct Permissions
Click onto the iTunes folder
Right click on the folder & select “Properties”
From the “Permissions” options, select “Allow All”
Step 3 – Repair The Registry
Download a program called “Frontline Registry Cleaner”
Install this program, and let it scan your PC
If it finds over 400 errors, it’s recommended you purchase the upgrade & let it fix your PC (licenses cost $29.99)
We’ve included the use of a “registry cleaner” on your computer to fix the various issues that Windows will have with this part of your system. The registry is a huge database which all Windows computers use to store important settings & options for your system inside, and are continually being used to help make your computer as smoothly and effectively as possible. The only problem, however, is that the registry database is continually being damaged & corrupted – leading to the likes of the 13008 error to appear. To resolve this problem, we highly recommend using a dedicated registry repair tool, called “Frontline Registry Cleaner”.
Adobe Flash, which was previously known as Macromedia Flash, is a multimedia creation platform that is used to add video, animation and interactivity to many various areas. Its use in advertising is increasingly common, and it has spurred an endless number of online games. It can boost user experience of audio, text layout and flow, colors, 3D effects, animation and more. Given all its capabilities, companies (especially creative ones) are turning to Flash for – well, flashier websites. Ad agencies and designers have found a platform that can really induce their message to life and showcase their creativity. They now have the tools to make a site that allows users to interact and be blazed by their work, instead of just reading what their company is all about in plain text.
Should you use Flash on your web site? Of course, if you think that it can bring extra value to your end users. But unless you’re developing some music or heavily animated web site, then it’s not a perfect option to build a web site only with Flash. I would rather recommend to use it for something more like a feature in a web site’s start page, to heighten the experience, but at the same time make sure that it hasn’t got some kind of user experience fallback, especially if it contains any important information.
Flash offers a enhanced experience in regards to animations, transitions, music and video handling. It has been there from day one to complement HTML where that isn’t sufficient in bringing a more full-fledged media experience. It is vector-based, but allows incorporation of bitmaps where needed, such as when screen captures are required as part of a software tutorial. Flash supports audio, animation, and advanced interactivity. One of the biggest benefits is that it’s relatively easy to learn, as it provides a designer-friendly creating environment. However, it requires a good understanding of computer graphics, and the advanced features require familiarity with programming or scripting techniques, but it also depends from the chosen flash animation software.
Web designers can also integrate Flash animations very well with other Web technologies. It can be extremely bandwidth efficient, comparing to other ways of displaying multimedia content. Flash has a large developer community (more than 3.5 million of developers use Flash platform), providing great support for developers. There are many pre-built Flash files that can be downloaded for free or low cost.
Flash is everywhere. Everyone knows about it and rarely does anyone who doesn’t have it, have a problem installing it. Sure there’s nothing to install for HTML5 (when it will be available) but it will require people to upgrade browsers or use specific ones to see videos on certain pages. Far more work than just downloading and installing the Adobe Flash Player. Flash Player spreads on over 99% of Internet-enabled desktops in mature markets as well as a wide range of devices.
Regarding video on web sites, Flash video player is much more than just a simple video player. It’s a tool that, when wielded properly can give you massive amounts of flexibility and power. With features like 3D effects, advanced text support, hardware acceleration and dynamic streaming…Flash is way ahead.
Being a controlled runtime, it can bring exactly the same content through web browsers and platforms, without any extra code. It is probably the most spread web browser plug-in in the world.
Flash has also become the de facto way of showing videos in web sites (YouTube, Vimeo etc) because of its compressing and packaging abilities, and is a great way around common video codec issues, showing something completely full-screen and other features. HTML 5 is a long way from completion. The HTML 5 video tag is going to need a lot of work and support before it can compete with Flash. Additionally, there’ the question of browser support and video file formats which it is not doing anything to fix at present.
What seems to be the greatest annoyance for people is slow performance and lots of unwanted animations and such. When it comes to performance, while it can be controlled by Flash developers, they seldom seem to do it properly. This also reflects on a duration of battery life on laptops, shortening it by 10-20%. When speaking with Adobe representatives about this, they claim there’s no performance problem whatsoever in Flash and that it’s all the developers’ doings.
Another of the problems with Flash is that it is included in the web browser as a complete stand-alone runtime, meaning it would work just the same in a stand-alone Flash player. The effect of this is that if you focus the Flash movie, all web browser keyboard shortcuts and focus is lost, and you need to click outside of the Flash area to re-focus.
But, it’s not only about development factors, it’s also about marketing and end user experience, where it could be heightened with nice Flash usage.
It is also important to point out that different Web sites have different purposes. Some Web sites are created totally to promote a corporate image, or to market or promote products and services. For these sites, Flash is an important tool. But for a customer support site, having a slick Flash animation of the company logo at the expense of a knowledge base is not good policy.
Flash is also a proprietary. While proprietary isn’t necessary a bad thing, the Internet is built on the principles of open standards and mutual ownership. The rise of proprietary applications such as Acrobat and Flash ultimately threaten the effectiveness of the World Wide Web Consortium and similar bodies, and could possibly lead to something like the “browser wars” of the 1990s. It would be remiss not to point out, however, that the Flash.SWF format is now in the public domain, and third party products can now be used to create Flash files. There’s a wide choice for the new developers choosing the right flash animation software.
All in all, you can say that Flash is more of an asset to advertising and websites than a disadvantage.
